I haven't seen Richard Linklater's 'Boyhood ' yet - but our son Stan needed a new passport photo so this week we also found time to match a portrait we'd created together on January 7th 2004 when Stan was almost four years old.

Now eleven years later - or 4031 days - he's a month away from 15. Looking at the two images together my wife and I were conflicted - simultaneously proud of the man he's becoming and kind of missing the little boy now gone forever. That said, at least Stan can sit still for portraits now...
